Neil Patrick Harris’s new “Smurfs” movie out today
MOVIETIME: Neil Patrick Harris stars in The Smurfs, the big-screen adaptation of the 1980s TV cartoon. The film is a combination of live-action and CGI and also stars Hank Azaria and Sofia Vergara, with the voices of Katy Perry, Alan Cumming and Fred Armisen and is directed by Raja Gosnell.
My niece and nephew, who I take to the movies frequently, have expressed zero interest in seeing this but I may lobby to see it (after all, I’m paying) just to see NPH on the big screen.
But then again, maybe not. The LA Times reviewer writes: Even Neil Patrick Harris, who has proved he can save just about any sinking ship (see prime-time awards shows such as the Emmys or Tonys), cannot make this boat float.
Well, here’s is the trailer anyway:

James says:
Neil has twins now. He has to pay the bills somehow. But seriously, I think they should have kept the Smurfs in their own universe in a completely CGI movie.
Robert says:
Totally agree with you James. Was looking forward to seeing this movie, but not so much now. Well that, and partly because I am not a huge fan of NPH.
