Neil Patrick Harris says he will NOT be opening the Oscars on Sunday with a musical number
A report from Deadline.com had the “scoop” that Neil Patrick Harris and Martin Short were going to be opening the Oscar telecast on Sunday with a musical number.
Writes the site’s Mike Fleming: Anything can change, but that unlikely duo has been rehearsing an original opening song and dance routine that is one of 2 big production numbers choreographed by executive producer Adam Shankman.
Neil, who did musical numbers while hosting of the Emmys and the Tonys last year, has quickly taken to Twitter to set the record straight:
I will not be performing a duet with Martin Short to open the Oscars. Misinformation, I’m afraid. Should I maybe pull a Kanye, mid-show?
Neil also Tweeted an answer to an 18-year-old musician from Australia who asked advice about coming out. I love his answer: Stand tall. Be proud of who you are. Don’t break promises. Want to learn. Represent well. But more than anything, be safe.
