Neil Patrick Harris News: “How I Met Your Mother” renewed through 2012; “Beastly” opens in 3rd place
It’s a big week for Neil Patrick Harris who found out he will be playing the hilarious Barney Stinson on CBS’s How I Met Your Mother for at least two more years.
Deadline Hollywood reports that the cast – NPH, Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, and Alyson Hannigan – are all set to return.
We all know that the supremely talented Neil, who is the father of baby twins with partner David Burtka, could have his pick of things to do in television, movies or stage if he wasn’t on the sitcom. He’s also hosted the Emmys and the Tonys – imagine what life he could have brought to this year’s dreadful Oscar ceremony!
Speaking of films, Neil got some good notices for the poorly-reviewed film Beastly starring newcomer Alex Pettyfer and Vanessa Hudgens. USA Today wrote that “the movie’s saving grace is Neil Patrick Harris as Will, Kyle’s wisecracking, blind tutor, who appears at Kyle’s house one day to school the self-centered guy on being decent, with a capital D.”
The film opened in third place over the weekend earning an estimated $10 million. It finished behind the animated flick Rango featuring the voice of Johnny Depp and the new Matt Damon thriller Adjustment Bureau.
NPH talked about the film and his dreams of hosting a TV variety show someday during a very fun appearance on Craig Ferguson;s show on Friday:
