Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka will finally guest star on NBC’s “American Horror Story: Freak Show”
This is exciting news.
Neil Patrick Harris and husband David Burtka are going to guest star on the smash FX series American Horror Story: Freak Show.
TVLine reports that Harris will appear in the final two episodes of the season as a chameleon salesman. Burtka will be in the season finale in part of the storyline involving a batty chanteuse played by Emmy winner Jessica Lange.
The couple had been offered roles in the first season of the anthology series as a couple who died in a murder-suicide and appear as ghosts.
Harris turned it down because the couple had just played fictionalized versions of themselves in the 2011 film A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas.
‘We had just played ourselves as a couple, not getting along, and I thought, it just seems weird to do that twice, like as individual actors, to play a couple that hates each other twice. It just felt weird,’ Harris recently told EW Radio on Sirius XM.
‘So I said no, that we shouldn’t do it. And David wanted to. I said, “I just don’t want us to be known as a couple that don’t like each other. That seems weird.” And then wouldn’t you know, American Horror Story is a big, gigantic success and super awesome.’
