Nate Berkus and husband Jeremiah Brent to star in new TLC makeover series this fall
Nate Berkus and husband Jeremiah Brent are launching their first television show together this fall.
The new parents – daughter Poppy Brent-Berkus turned 1 last week – will be coming to the rescue of people whose homes are in serious need of a makeover.
The show, to be called Married to Design: Nate & Jeremiah, will air on TCL which is sure to be less controversial for a network that in the past has been home to such shows as 19 Kids and Counting, Jon & Kate Plus 8 and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
‘Design isn’t just what we do for a living, it’s what we do on our weekends,’ says Berkus. ‘So this show is perfect. We get to have all the fun and the homeowner gets rescued from a money pit that is consuming them. They’re lost. We’re not. We know where to save, where to spend, where to shop … it’s what we love most.’
But the show will not just be about other people’s homes.
The couple, who married in 2014, will also be welcoming viewers into their own home and their lives.
Says Brent: ‘I just stood in a room with the people we love the most and watched as our daughter blew out the candles on her 1st birthday cake. Aside from the fact that I was an emotional wreck, I found myself looking at Nate and the two of us not being able to contain all the joy and gratitude that is our life right now. To invite people to see that side of us, it just feels right.’
