It’s not hard to figure out why Abby and Valene both were so in love with Gary Ewing all those years on Knots Landing: he was played so well by a gorgeous actor named Ted Shackelford!

Gary was the younger brother of JR and Bobby Ewing on this Dallas spinoff which ran for 14 seasons. He was married t0 Valene (Joan Van Ark) then had an affair with Abby (Donna Mills). Val left him and while he was with Abby, he got Val pregnant with twins. She married a few other guys before she and Gary found their way back to each other.

Over the years, writers often found ways to have Gary be shirtless which for straight female fans and gay male fans, was a real treat.

Ted is now 64 and still looking good! He plays the recurring role of Jeffrey Bardwell on The Young and the Restless who is the identical twin brother of Genoa City District Attorney William Bardwell who died.

And we thought things were complicated on Knots Landing!
