Morning Man Classic: Sam Waterston!

Happy 80th birthday to the great Sam Waterston who currently co-stars in the hit Netflix comedy Grace & Frankie.

It’s the latest major success for this gifted actor who was nominated for an Academy Award for The Killing Fields, a Tony Award for Abe Lincoln in Illinois and seven Emmy Awards for his performances in Law & Order, I’ll Fly Away, and the TV film The Glass Menagerie. His single Emmy win is as a producer of the informational series Lost Civilizations. He was a Golden Globe Award for I’ll Fly Away and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Law & Order.

Other memorable roles include Charlie Skinner in The Newsroom, Dennis Shepard in The Matthew Shepard Story, Kathleen Turner’s husband in Serial Mom, and Abraham Lincoln in the miniseries Lincoln. His other films include Capricorn One, Heaven’s Gate, Just Between Friends, Finnegan Begin Again, Nixon, and On the Basis of Sex, among others.

4 Remarks

  1. I’ve been in love with him for years.

  2. I first became aware of and then enamored of Sam Waterston from the movie he was in called Hopscotch (1980), with Walter Matthau and Glenda Jackson. It was an enchanting movie, I thought, and still enjoy from time to time when its available. Thanks for this Morning Man Classic today Greg.

  3. The pic at the very top is great. Loved him in Menagerie.

  4. I’m really liking Sam in that long coat.
