Morning Man Classic: Sam Shepard!
Playwright and actor Sam Shepard has died at the age of 73. He received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1979 for his play Buried Child and is the author of 44 plays as well as several books of short stories, memoirs and essays.
He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1983′s The Right Stuff for his portrayal of pilot Chuck Yeager. He met Jessica Lange when they met making the film Frances. They were a couple for nearly 30 years and had two children together and also starred together in the film Country.
As an actor, Shepard starred in the film version of his play Fool For Love and had supporting roles in some of my favorite movies including Steel Magnolias, Baby Boom, Crimes of the Heart and Safe Passage. His other film roles included The Notebook, Black Hawk Down, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, and August: Osage County.
