Post-Tarzan, Ron had the title role in the film Doc Savage and got a great deal of attention in the early 80s when he was chosen to replace Bert Parks as host of the Miss America Pageant. He was also busy guest starring on many television series throughout the 70s and 80s.
Now 71, In recent years Ely has embarked on a successful writing career and has penned two mystery novels featuring private eye Jake Sands: Night Shadows (1994) and East Beach (1995).

Wow – Ely’s Tarzan was my 2nd crush (William Shatner’s Captain Kirk was the first), and I remember the non-network TV station in town (would later become a WB affiliate) would show Tarzan movies every Saturday afternoon. Great loincloth memories!
