Morning Man Classic: Robert Conrad!

It’s the darnedest thing.

The search for photos of a young Robert Conrad resulted in mostly shirtless pics of this studly television star.

Oh well. I guess we’ll just have to go with them!

Conrad, who turned 84 on Friday, was quite the beefcake when he starred in the hit shows Hawaiian Eye and Wild, Wild West in the 1960s. By the 70s, he had developed a tough guy persona that he exploited in a series of popular commercials for Everready Batteries. He also starred in the hit show Black Sheep Squadron in the mid-70s and was the leader of the NBC team in the then-popular Battle of the Network Stars competitions.

Conrad hosts a weekly radio show and more than a decade ago ran for the presidency of the Screen Actors Guild but lost.

  1. He’s my first crush as a young gay boy. His body was sheer perfection (IMO) at his prime. I never missed Wild Wild West in reruns on TNT and bought the series on DVD. I spent an entire summer watching and counting how many times his shirt came off. It was a fun project!

  2. And if we added John Saxon and Clint Walker, we’d have a nice threesome with Mr. Conrad!

  3. Wow, happy 84th to Robert Conrad. I remember thinking him a hot looking man while I was watching the reruns of Wild Wild West. Every Saturday as a kid… I should have known I leaned towards guys then… he was the main reason I watched the show having already memorized each episode than as today.

I didn’t do the rerun thing or buy the DVD’s. By that time I was aware what a right wing conservative he was, so I just remember him as a first crush and what a great body he had.
