Morning Man Classic: Matthias Freihof!
Last week, I attended an Outfest screening of Coming Out, the first gay-themed film ever allowed to be shot in East Germany.
The movie premiered in Berlin on the same night that the Berlin Wall fell in 1989 ensuring that it would always be the only gay-themed film officially made in East Germany.
The movie tells the story of a high school teacher – young and very good looking – who is struggling to accept that he is gay.
The teacher is played superbly by Matthias Freihof who was in his mid-20s at the time and utterly beautiful.
Matthias, now 52, is openly gay in real life and went on to have a busy career on stage and in films including 2008′s Valkyrie starring Tom Cruise.
