Morning Man Classic: John F. Kennedy Jr.!

He was the son of a president, a magazine publisher and once named People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive.”

He is, of course, the late John F. Kennedy Jr., who like his father died far too soon. Today would have been his 57th birthday.

It’s been 18 years since he died in a plane crash at the age of 39, just four years after he founded George, a glossy politics-as-lifestyle monthly which sometimes took editorial aim even at members of his own family.

JFK Jr. was a graduate of Brown University and New York University School of Law and famously failed the bar exam twice before finally passing. He then worked as a prosecutor in the Manhattan district attorney’s office for four years.

He was quite the ladies man dating Sarah Jessica Parker, Madonna and Darryl Hannah before marrying Carolyn Bessette in 1996. She was among those killed when the plane he was flying crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off Martha’s Vinyard.

We’ll never know what could have been in store for him.

  1. I was blown away when it was announced that he was killed in the plane crash. I felt so sad. So much promise and hope. Then gone. And he was born the same year as I. Like Princess Diana before him, his life was cut way too short.

  2. He was absolutely on track to run and maybe be POTUS. Such tragedy.

  3. Between the loss of JFK, Jr. and Princess Diana, I was devastated. I honestly always believed John would have become President. I sure as heck wish he was right now since we have nothing but trash and division in our White House. And, I must say, John truly was one gorgeous man.

  4. Actually, he was born on the 25th. My parents had just gotten married and were on their honeymoon, and they heard on the radio that Jackie had John-John. His birthday was my day of conception! His death was true tragedy.

  5. @ Scott-How come your name is in red?
