Morning Man Classic: John F. Kennedy

He was gone much, much too soon.

John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States, was born 106 years ago today.

The only president to win a Purple Heart, we will never, ever forget him.

Here are a some of photos of JFK from his pre-presidential days which ended tragically on that day in Dallas in 1963 when JFK was just 46.

I’ve included several photos of JFK with his gay best friend Lem Billings who he met at Choate, an elite preparatory school, in the fall of 1933. Billingd was a prep school roommate of Kennedy, an usher at his wedding and a campaigner for his successful 1960 presidential bid. Joseph Kennedy Sr. called him “my second son,” and he sometimes acted as escort for several of the Kennedy women. Billings served with Sargent Shriver as a trustee for the Kennedy family trusts.

“Jack made a big difference in my life,” Billings once said. “Because of him, I was never lonely. He may have been the reason I never got married.”

One Remark

  1. Many years ago I read a very good book exploring the relationship of Jack and Lem–Jack and Lem: John F. Kennedy and Lem Billings written by David Pitts.

They had a very deep and long-lasting relationship. Lem even had a room in the White House. He would come and go like he was a member of the family.

Yes, he did try to bed Jack. But the story goes that Jack rebuffed him because he was not that type of guy.

Personally, I always thought of John F. Kennedy as a sickly person. Health-wise he had it rough. If stories are true, he was a walking pharmacy. I am surprised he had the energy to be president let alone a horn dog as well.

    Great book!!
