Morning Man Classic: Gordon Scott!

This very handsome man was best known for playing Tarzan in five films between 1955-60. At 6 feet 3 inches tall and with movie matinee looks, Gordon Scott certainly fit the bill to play the jungle stud. Scott had finished serving three years in the U.S. Army and working as a lifeguard at a hotel on the Las Vegas Strip when he was discovered by a Hollywood talent agent and quickly chosen to replace Lex Barker as Tarzan. But after five years in the role, he feared me be typecast so he moved to Italy and became a popular star of what were known as Sword-and-sandal epics that featured handsome bodybuilders as various characters from Greek and Roman myth. His final role was the 1968 film The Tramplers. He died in 2007 at the age of 80. In the final decades of his life, Scott was a popular guest at film conventions and autograph shows.

One Remark

  1. Great choice….he was always my favorite Tarzan, and I felt that he and Lex Barker were the most perfect for the roles.
