Morning Man Classic: Gil Gerard!

Never saw a single episode of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century in the late 70s and early 80s but was well ware of its handsome leading man, Gil Gerard.

After the show ended in 1981, Gerard was featured in a number of other TV shows and movies, including starring roles in the short-lived series Sidekicks in 1986 and E.A.R.T.H. Force in 1990.

He later hosted the reality TV series Code 3 and made guest appearances on various TV shows, including Fish Police, Brotherly Love, The Big Easy, Days Of Our Lives and Pacific Blue.

Gerard, now 75, has had struggles with obesity and in 2005 underwent mini-gastric bypass surgery at a time when his weight reached past 350 pounds. He lost 140 pounds in the year after the surgery.

In 2014, Gerard guest-starred as Admiral Jack Sheehan in “Kitumba” in an episode of the fan web series Star Trek: Phase II. The next year, In 2015, he voiced Megatronus in Transformers: Robots in Disguise.

4 Remarks

  1. Love Gil Gerard and had the biggest crush on him when I was a kid.

  2. Always a great-looking guy!!

  3. He was one of the guys who caused my first “stirrings” as a young kid. I knew something wasn’t quite right when I looked at him. It was only my late teens and early 20s before I realized how I was different. That sexy chest had opened my eyes when looking back though.

He’s also struggled immensely with body image and obesity issues. It’s an interesting read if you do some searches. We sometimes tend to overlook the body struggles that men have when trying to live up to various ideals we impose on each other.

  4. Girl Gerard was so f*****g sexy as Buck Rodgers, his hairy chest & muscular body was shown off to viewers with him wearing skin tight white satin & most of t h e other actors & actresses costumes were very glitzy & rather over the top. It was almost like the disco era costumes were being reused on tv
