Morning Man Classic: Fabian Forte!

He’s best known as simply, Fabian.

The teen idol of the late 50s and early 60s became a star after performing several times on American Bandstand and went on to have 11 of his songs reached the Billboard Hot 100.

His hits included I’m a Man, Hound Dog Man, Turn Me Loose and his biggest hit, Tiger.

But Fabian’s music career was over by the time he was 18 and he turned to acting in such movies as North to Alaska, A Bullet for Pretty Boy, and Little Laura and Big John.

Now 70, Fabian had resumed singing in the 70s but never reached his earlier success. The 1980 movie The Idolmaker is said to be a thinly-disguised depiction of his early career.

One Remark

  1. I still have the copy of Playgirl that he posed nude for and did a real nice centerfold pushing a motorcycle from way way way back when…Gosh I was just a young teenager when I started buying them every month, maybe 12 or 13…even still have the first issue…you had to be 21 to buy Playboy but anyone could buy Playgirl for some reason. I still have them all. In fact,I was never embarrassed when I got to the check out stand, in fact I kinda got off on it. haha In there time, before the internet and cheap VCR’s, they got a lot lot lot of use. Did I say lot enough? I should just say…a lot times a billion.
