Morning Man Classic: Chad Everett!

When I was a kid, there were two great TV docs: Marcus Welby and Joe Gannon.

Welby was like your grandfather and Gannon was the one you somehow had a crush on even before you knew you were gay.

Gannon was played by the amazingly handsome Chad Everett on the long-running drama Medical Center.

Everett was born 82 years ago today. He died of lung cancer in 2012 at the age of 75.

He appeared in more than 40 movies and television shows but Chad was best known for his role as Dr. Joe Gannon on the long-running series Medical Center. I was just a little kid but I knew he was one of my crushes in the same way that other 70s stars like Kent McCord and James Brolin were.

After Medical Series ended its seven year run on 1976, Chad starred in the miniseries Centennial and starred in the short-lived series McKenna and Hagen and had recurring roles on Murder, She Wrote and Melrose Place.

In one of his final roles, Chad guest-starred on the terrific but now canceled CBS series Cold Case. It was the memorable 2006 episode Forever Blue. and he portrayed a closeted gay police officer.
