Monday Morning Man: Roger Federer!

The 2013 Wimbledon Championships begin today at the All England Club and the first match on the famed Center Court will be played by today’s very regal Morning Man: Roger Federer.

Federer, who will be 32 later this summer, is the defending champion and will be trying to win a record eighth title overall. If he succeeds, he will break a tie with Pete Sampras for most singles titles won by a male.

“I know the road is hard, but it is possible,” Federer told reporters over the weekend. “I’m looking forward to the challenge really.”

He described the feeling of opening play as “very, very special for a tennis player.”

“You really feel very unique, clearly, because you are the one opening the court,” he said. “It’s something you look back on…That I was able to do it that many times is fantastic. I feel very proud.”
