Monday Morning Man: Matthew Wilkas!
Anyone attending the Boys Shorts program at Outfest on Saturday morning (well, anyone except the idiot who fell asleep next to me and started to snore) was asking themselves who the really cute and appealing actor was who appeared in both Gayby and Curious Thing.
As it happened, the actor was in the theater and the directors of the movies asked him to come on up to the stage! His name is Matthew Wilkas.
“It was just great because they were two such different parts and it was cool to be able to showcase that,” Matthew told me when we chatted later. “I have a lot of friends in LA and [the screening at Outfest] is a really good excuse to be out here and hang out with people.”
The 32-year-old actor, who is openly gay, came in from New York to attend a bit of the festival.
“I do lots of stage and improv comedy in New York and all the TV you can do it New York,” said the actor who has had roles on Ugly Betty and Hope & Faith and appeared in the feature films The New Twenty and The Bits In Between.
Matthew is from Maine and went to Boston University and participated in the Williamstown Theatre Festival for three summers.
If you missed Boys Shorts over the weekend, you can catch the program tonight! It will screen again at 9:30 p.m. at Sunset Five. Go to Outfest.org for ticket info!
