Monday Morning Man: James Marsden!
Who didn’t fall a little in love with James Mardsen when he was on Ally McBeal for that one season? Then that love was solidified when, wearing puffy sleeves and all, he arrived in New York City as Prince Charming to save his princess in Disney’s Enchanted.
But, like with most of his other movies up until that time, he didn’t get the girl – played by Amy Adams - in that one. She preferred Patrick Dempsey. In The Notebook, he lost the girl to Ryan Gosling and in Superman Returns, he lost Lois Lane to The Man of Steel (Brandon Routh).
But finally, he got the girl in 27 Dresses when Katherine Heigl had the good sense to pick the cutest guy in the movie!
Marsden is a big gay fave not only because he is beautiful, but he is also willing to play gay as he did in Heights (featuring a steamy kiss with Jesse Bradford) and in The 24th Day opposite Scott Speedman.
He has mixed those indie films with roles in big Hollywood blockbusters including the X-Men movies and the musicals Hairpray and Enchanted.
“I’d been looking to do something like [a musical] for awhile and was excited when Chicago and Moulin Rouge re-opened the doors for movie musicals,” James said when I interviewed him last year. “It’s something I’ve enjoyed doing so I pursued it and, luckily, they wanted me to be a part of the movie. The X-Men films and the Superman films have been very good for my career and I’m very proud of them. But it’s also nice to have people see you in a different light, you know?”
Nest up is the sci-fi horror flick The Box opposite Cameron Diaz. It hits theaters at the end of August.
