Monday Morning Man: Henry Cavill! better to feature as today’s Morning Man than the new Man of Steel himself?

It has just been announced by Warner Bros. that British actor Henry Cavill has been cast as Clark Kent/Superman in the new Superman movie, The Man of Steel, to be directed by Zack Snyder that is expected to hit theaters at the end of next year.

I had liked Brandon Routh in the role and even though his outing in the title role of Superman Returns grossed more than $200 million domestically, the studio has decided to restart the franchise, that also once starred Christopher Reeve, with another actor.

Landing the role is a real triumph for Cavill who had auditioned for the role when it went to Routh and was also in the running to become the next James Bond when Daniel Craig was selected.

The oh-so-handsome Cavill is 27 and best known for his role in Showtime’s The Tudors. He has played Charles Brandon, the first Duke of Suffolk.

He’s also appeared in the films Blood Creek, The Count of Monte Cristo, I Capture the Castle, Red Riding Hood and Hellraiser: Hellworld and the upcoming Woody Allen flick Whatever Works.
