Meredith Baxter, Florence Henderson, Marissa Jaret Winokur and others in ‘Love, Loss, and What I Wore’

Two of the most famous TV moms in history – one of whom came out less than a year ago as a lesbian – are among the headliners in the current production of Love. Loss and What I Wore in the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater at the Geffen Playhouse.
Those moms would be Meredith Baxter of Family Ties fame and the legendary Florence Henderson. They are joined by Paula Christensen, Gina Torres, and Tony winner Marissa Jaret Winokur. The group began performing Aug. 4 and will appear through Aug. 29.

I greatly admire Miss Baxter for how she has handled her coming out and we were treated to her appearance at Outfest 2010 last month. She is working on her autobiography which, if it is as compelling as her interviews have been, should be a great read.
For Miss Henderson, the Geffen gig is one of the many things this ageless 76-year-old dynamo is involved with. She is reportedly also working on an autobiography and is being considered for Dancing With The Stars.
She’d be a GREAT pick!
Of Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron’s Love, Loss, and What I Wore Florence says: “It’s funny, heart warming and a delight. I simply love, love, love working with the cast. We have bonded and become very close. In fact, we all use the same dressing room.”
Under the direction of Jenny Sullivan, Love, Loss and What I Wore is an intimate collection of stories covering some of life’s most poignant moments and their corresponding wardrobe.
Scheduled performances are Tuesday through Saturday at 8:00pm and Sunday at 7:00pm with matinees on both Saturday at 3:00pm and Sunday at 2:00pm. Time is running out to catch this remarkable cast!
The show is staged with a focus on storytelling, the actresses sit side-by-side with script in-hand, deftly guiding the audience through an evening of humor, nostalgia and, of course, fashion.
