Matt Bomer hits the books with Ira Sachs as they research Montgomery Clift at NY Public Library

Writer-director Ira Sachs (Love is Strange, Keep the Lights On) and actor Matt Bomer (White Collar, The Normal Heart) are two very talented men who I’m happy to know a little bit and who I really admire. So it is so wonderful to have them working together on an HBO biopic about screen legend Montgomery Clift to star Matt and being written by Ira.

Ira posted this photo today of Matt doing Monty research at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.

Clift is the movie legend who starred in such classic films as A Place in the Sun, The Heiress, From Here to Eternity, The Search, and Judgment at Nuremberg.

He was a closeted gay man who was best friends with Elizabeth Taylor and died far too young in 1966 at the age of 45.

One Remark

    Davida Federman says:

How can a biopic be considered seriously when the premise of the film is inaccurate. I am very upset by this film and the fact that the producer said this would be a good showcase for Matt Bomer…..and is not done to place Monty in a true and good light.
