Thank you to the Washington National Cathedral, Bishop Gene Robinson, Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde, Dean Randolph M. Hollerith, Brennan Connell and Mary Lambert for joining us earlier this week in a ceremony of inspiration and celebration at the dedication of Matthew’s memorial plaque. The plaque, housed in the Chapel of St. Joseph of Arimathea, is intended to honor Matthew’s memory and all those who continue to fight for LGBTQ+ equality and a world free from hate. If you couldn't attend, you can watch the ceremony via the link in our bio. #MatthewShepard #MatthewShepardFoundation #EraseHate

Washington National Cathedral and the Matthew Shepard Foundation held a ceremony of inspiration, celebration and song to dedicate the Matthew Shepard Memorial Plaque. Elevated by a grassroots, crowd-funded campaign in the weeks following Matthew’s 2018 interment in the Cathedral, the plaque in the Chapel of St. Joseph of Arimathea is intended to honor Matthew’s memory and to serve as a source of strength in the continued journey for LGBTQ+ equality. Gathered again in the Cathedral Nave, speakers and musicians celebrated Matthew’s legacy and highlight ongoing efforts to, as the Matthew Shepard Foundation declares, “envision a future without hate, where understanding and compassion guide us toward an equitable world.”

2 Remarks

  1. Extraordinarily moving. May Matthew’s short life shine its light on each and every one of us.

  2. Kudos to Judy and Dennis for keeping their son’s memory alive…May it ever be a beckon on stamping out hate/bigotry…

Off-topic-I thought the parents are divorced…
