Martina Navratilova joins “Dancing With the Stars”
How cool is this?
The awesome Martina Navratilova has just been announced as one of the participants in the new season of Dancing With the Stars which kicks off its new season on March 19.
There were a lot of people who wanted to see Olympic champion in diving Greg Louganis be selected and it is a disappointment that he was not. But Martina is an inspired choice and will represent the LGBT community well.
Navratilova is the latest LGBT contestant on the show which last season featured openly gay television personality Carson Kressley and transgender male Chaz Bono. The first gay contestant was Lance Bass back in 2008.
Martina does not know if her tennis prowess will give her an edge and feels the competition will be a real ‘challenge.’
‘Tennis is all closed up. This is all open,’ she told reporters.
Good luck Martina!!!

How nice to see an individual who is gay and not a screaming queen!

I’ve never been a fan of the show but I hope Martina does well. She’s a fantastic ambassador for the GLBT community, not to mention the greatest all round tennis player the game has ever seen. Heck she won her last Grand Slam title at the 2006 US Open one month shy of her 50th birthday! I doubt anyone will top that.
