Margaret Cho named a co-host of “Fashion Police”

This makes so much sense and I’m so glad it has happened.

The brilliant Margaret Cho is stepping in to fill the comedic role on E!’s Fashion Police.

Margaret has been named co-host of the show which has struggled with finding the right on-air line-up since the tragic 2014 death of original host Joan Rivers.

The comic will join a panel that includes Giuliana Rancic, Melissa Rivers, and Brad Goreski.

Margaret guest-hosted several times this year when the show returned in revamped form after the departure of Rivers’ replacement Kathy Griffin as well as longtime panelist Kelly Osbourne.

‘There’s a nice mix of fags and fag hags on that show. That’s what the show is — fags and fag hags talking!’ Cho joked to columnist Michael Musto last summer.

She added: ‘I’m coming at it from a totally different point of view,’ she says. ‘I’m so heavily criticized for my own looks. Joan (Rivers) was always making fun of the ridiculousness of my outfits. I once wore a dress with arrows and she said, “She looks like she’s been shot by 12 gay Robin Hoods.” But I like tasteless, garish stuff. I like Bjork’s swan dress. The crazier, the better. And I’ll bring that point of view on the show.’

Her first show as co-host will be for Golden Globes red-carpet fashion coverage on January 11.

The show had resumed production the January after Rivers’ death with a Golden Globes edition with new panelists Griffin and Goreski joining returnees Rancic and Osbourne.

After a handful of episodes with that line-up, the show imploded during its Academy Awards episode.

Rancic got into hot water when a joke written for her about actress Zendaya’s dreadlocks. She said they made the Disney star look as if she smelled ‘like patchouli oil’ or ‘weed.’

Rancic apologized on the air and it was later revealed that editing took the joke out of context and make Rancic look even worse. Osbourne, who had been outraged by the Zendaya incident, quit the show after five years as a panelist and Griffin quickly followed her out the door.

After another break, the show returned last August with Rivers as part of the on-air team. She had been executive producer of the show and was determined to save her mother’s legacy.
