Lunch Break Video: When Suzanne Sugarbaker almost had to give back her pageant crown on “Designing Women”

So how many times have you watched the Miss Universe debacle from last night that had Steve Harvey announcing the wrong contestant as winner and having her be crowned only to have it taken away a few minutes later?

I watched it several times last night but it’s just not that fun after awhile because you feel so bad for all involved.

Anyway, a few decades ago, this almost happened to Designing Women’s Suzanne Sugarbaker in an episode where questions arose over her victory at Miss Georgia arise 15 years after she was crowned.

Pageant officials arrived and informed her that she’d have to give the crown back.

Suzanne, as brilliantly played by Delta Burke, reacts predictably: ‘They can have that crown when they peel it from my cold, dead scalp!’

One Remark

  1. That was a treat to watch. I could remember Suzanne kept her crown, but I couldn’t remember how. It was a fun episode.
