Lunch Break Video: When Sonny and Cher reunited on “Late Night on David Letterman” just gets better and better each time you watch it: it’s 1988 and the first time Sonny and Cher have appeared together on a stage in at least a decade. Sonny was running for mayor of Palm Springs and Cher was nominated for an Oscar for Moonstruck that year.

Both won.

I remember visiting my big sister up in Northern California and staying up late to watch this and being so moved when this most famous of showbiz duos sang I Got You Babe together that one last time.

Sonny went on to be elected to the US House of Representatives but, sadly, was killed in a skiing accident in 1998. Cher continues to be her fabulous self at 63 – may she go on forever.

One Remark

  1. OMG. Cher sounds like a Bea Arthur and Dolly Parton combo in this rendition. This is fantastic! Thanks for pulling this out.
