Lunch Break Video: When Elizabeth Taylor paid a visit to “General Hospital” as Helena Cassadine

Well, I didn’t see any of James Franco’s stint on General Hospital but I doubt it could have been as delicious as when Elizabeth Taylor did a stint on the soap nearly 30 years ago.

Miss Taylor was fresh off of a triumph on Broadway in The Little Foxes and a divorce from seventh husband, Sen. John Warner when she played the widow of a madman whose plans to freeze the world were foiled by Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis).
She was the revenge-seeking Helena Cassadine who shows up in Port Charles to donate $10 million to the hospital and university but is really more interested in settling scores. She even puts a curse on poor Luke and Laura during their wedding!

The character returned to the show years later but was played by another actress. By that time, Miss Taylor wasn’t doing much acting at all instead becoming a perfume mogul and raising millions for AIDS research and casre. Her last acting gig was the 2001 TV movie These Old Broads.
