Lunch Break Video: The debut of “I Love Lucy” Fridays with clips from “Lucy Tells the Truth”

http://imagecache5.art.com/p/LRG/11/1155/PJRM000Z/i-love-lucy--tv-history.jpgGood afternoon!

Sorry for the lack of fresh posts today. Had a lengthy breakfast meeting followed by WiFi issues that basically made me want to throw my computer across the room – even if it’s not the computer’s fault.

It’s a good thing that today is the day I chose to launch “I Love Lucy Fridays” as a regular part of the blog’s Lunch Break Video feature. Watching clips of this zany redhead and her partner in crime Ethel always makes me happy – always.

So every Friday, I’ll be sharing some of my faves. Today’s is a hilarious episode when Lucy must tell the truth for a certain period of time in order to win a bet with Ricky, Fred and Ethel. The problem is, she has a bridge game with the girls the next day and not lying to their face about ugly furniture and ridiculous hats is going to be impossible.

As we all know, Lucy rises to the challenge and, in fact, feels liberated by the truth telling. Here is my favorite part of the episode. Enjoy!

2 Remarks

  1. I don’t even have to watch this to know all the lines. And in spite of the fact that I own the entire series on DVD (along with the hour-long eposodes and Season One of “The Lucy Show” and , I still wish it were available on cable at some point during the day. Because there is a joy in knowing that the experience is being shared.

Thank you so much for this. I’ll be increasing your pageview count every Friday!

  2. PS That previous post was to include the fact that I also own Seasons One and Two of “Here’s Lucy.” Not that I’m proud of it.

If you could ever link to the episode when Lucy bring Little Ricky to make a surprise visit on Caroline Appleby and “Little Stevie,” that would be classic.

“I hope he hasn’t picked up any of Stevie’s better habits! Like scratching himself, or peeling bananas with his feet!”
