Lunch Break Video: Spaniards react to homophobia in a way we wish everyone in US would

I just finished writing about a homophobe over at Gay Star News so this video came at a really good time. In this video, an American couple traveling in Spain is seen asking various Spaniards to help them translate a letter giving them directions to their hostel. The letter includes homophobic insults and the people translating are just not having it. They are outraged and some get emotional.

“Here in Spain, you cannot say this,” says one man. “You can take this to the police and they can close his business.”

5 Remarks

  1. Thank you for sharing that. I cried the whole way through.

  2. I like this video. I see it was inspired/based onto a similar one where a black person asks local Lithuanian people for a translation (at an interview) and their reactions are quite similar to this. Here is the video:

  3. same reactions if they weren’t young and gorgeous?

  5. @David-I guess we won’t know but that doesn’t mean this experiment should be negated. Aside from that I didn’t think they were all that gorgeous.
