Lunch Break Video: Russell Tovey talks about ‘Looking,’ ‘A View From the Bridge’ and ‘The History Boys’ recently interviewed Russell Tovey about many things including being cast in The History Boys which was only supposed to last 45 performances. It went on to run 600-plus performances: ‘It just did so much for all of us … it just grew and grew and grew.’

‘Doing that show so many times … repetition, you do end up going slightly mad. I remembered I fantasized about getting stabbed on the subway so I could have a show off. Just a surface wound – no internal organ damaged. Just so I could have a show off because we were all going slightly crazy. But what was so good about having eight boys is that if one went crazy, the others would go, “Pull yourself together, sort it out.’ And another day someone else would go crazy. … I think being boys we handled it better. I think if it was The History Girls and we were all girls, I’m sure it would have been mayhem.’
