Lunch Break Video: Logo’s ‘Fire Island’ series hasn’t yet aired but already gets a hilarious parody on ‘SNL’
The trailer for the upcoming Logo reality series Fire Island created all kinds of buzz last week – some of it negative. It’s from Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos and follows a group of very attractive young guys spending their summer together renting a house in Fire Island. I’ve seen all kinds of comments about stereotypes and it not being representative of the real gay community. Of course it’s not but it sure looks like silly fun in the same way Jersey Shore was back in the day. Anyway, Saturday Night Live takes on the whole stereotype thing with its alternative trailer for a series called Cherry Grove set just one beach away and focusing on a group of lesbians. They all eat kale, there’s the lactose intolerant one and, of course, and singing Annie Lennox’s Why around the table with a glass of wine. The trailer includes Kate McKinnon and Scarlett Johansson playing moms to a baby. Check it out and let me know what you think!
