Lunch Break Video: Elaine Stritch and James Gandolfini as mother and son in “Romance and Cigarettes”

Two very famous – and beloved – New Yorkers are gone now but while they were here, they made quite an impression.

What I did not know until I came across this clip online was that Elaine Stritch and James Gandolfini had played mother and son in the 2005 musical comedy Romance and Cigarettes.

In this scene, Stritch’s character goes to visit her son in the hospital and when asked how she is doing she replies: “Every breath is a victory. … I got one foot on the banana peel and one foot in the grave”

She then goes on to tell her son off remarking that he has ‘dinosaur balls.’

One Remark

  1. Thank you. God she was a national treasure.
