Liza Minnelli to do guest stint on “Ugly Betty”
Oscar, Emmy, Tony and Grammy-winning legend Liza Minnelli, currently enjoying a very good stretch in her sometime turbulent life, will be doing a multi-episode guest stint on ABC’s Ugly Betty.
And what a perfect role they have written for her: Liza will play the outrageous Lena Korkinka, the high school drama teacher of Justin’s (Mark Indelicato).
Liza is set to begin filming episodes next week through mid-February.
This sounds like the perfect kind of gig for Miss Minnelli who was a smash during her recurring guest role on Arrested Development several years back. She won a Tony Award last year for her one woman show Liza at the Palace.
Ugly Betty has been struggling in the ratings so far this season after being relegated to Friday nights. Now back on Wednesdays, hopefully Liza’s involvement can restore some much-needed buzz to this still terrific show.
