Linda Perry on how wife Sara Gilbert has made her life better: “I feel smarter with her. I feel more confident”
The talk show that I find myself enjoying the most these days doesn’t even air on television.
It’s on Hulu and it’s called Larry King Now – yeah, the same Larry King who should never have been retired by CNN.
Larry is having some of the best conversations with a wide range of people and last night, he chatted with music producer Linda Perry.
Linda spoke movingly about her new wife, Sara Gilbert, and how their being together has enhanced her life.
‘She, by far, is the best decision I’ve ever, hands-down, made,’ Linda said. ‘She grounds me. I feel better with her. I feel smarter with her. I feel more confident. She’s my family – I just feel like family with her. And I feel lucky. I feel like she’s brought luck into my life.’
Perry, who has written for and produced such artists as Pink and Christina Aguilera, was married to The Talk co-host in a sunset ceremony overlooking the Pacific Ocean in March.
Perry recalls that they met through her yoga instructor who happened to be Gilbert’s best friend.
‘I just found her fascinating – her brain is extremely interesting to me. She’s so smart but has a lot of common sense and is such a good-hearted person. So we just had this connection.’
They began dating a year after their first meeting and went public with their relationship in November 2011.
Earlier that year, Sara had split from television producer Allison Adler after 10 years together. They share custody of young son and daughter.
Gilbert is best known for her long-running role of Darlene on the sitcom Roseanne which ended in 1997 but continues to enjoy tremendous popularity in reruns.
She has also enjoyed enormous success with The Talk now in its fourth season.
