View this post on Instagram It was truly overwhelming to be at the #SupremeCourt of the United States today to hear oral arguments for a set of cases that included the first case involving transgender civil rights to be argued before the court. Thank you to #AimeeStephens #GeraldBostock and the family of the late #DonaldZarda, everyday people, citizens, human beings fired from their jobs for being who they are who had the courage to fight back against that discrimination, a fight that took them all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States today. Everyday people can make a difference. View this post on Instagram I just want this hug to extend to the entire spectrum of my #lgbtq+ family. Yesterday was an historic day for us no matter what those justices decide. We are here. We exist. We are beautiful. We are necessary. I want this hug to extend to everyone wo has ever experienced discrimination, oppression, violence, stigma, shame, trauma. We can hold space for each other across all our differences and we must hold space with each other through our pain and know that that pain need not block the joy that can coexist alongside it. … #TransIsBeautiful #WeWontBeErased #lgbtq #love A post shared by laverne cox (@lavernecox) on Oct 9, 2019 at 11:50am PDT
