Late Night Video: Here is the first look at marbelous Meryl Streep in “Florence Foster Jenkins”

It’s been awhile since I’ve sunk my teeth into a really good Meryl Streep movie. The three-time Oscar winner didn’t have a really big part in Suffragette and while last summer’s Ricki and the Flash was fun, it wasn’t one of her better movies.

So my hopes are high for her upcoming film Florence Foster Jenkins in which she plays the American-born opera singer. The film co-stars Hugh Grant.

Jenkins was an opera diva known for her having legions of fans despite the fact that she was unable to hit a high note. Apparently the voice she heard in her head was beautiful but to everyone else it was hilariously awful.

Of course we know Meryl can sing as she proved in her Oscar-nominated performance in Into the Woods as well as in Ricki and the Flash, Mamma Mia, A Prairie Home Companion, Postcards From the Edge, Death Becomes Her and Ironweed.
