Late Night: See some highlights from Pete Buttigieg’s Town Hall with Chris Matthews on MSNBC
Presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg is someone who seems worth getting to know.
The mayor of South Bend, Indiana, did a Town Hall with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews who elicited a series of interesting answers from the candidate.
On impeaching the President, Buttigieg says “First of all, I believe that the President deserves to be impeached” and that “No one ought to be above the law.”
When asked about President Trump’s tariffs impacting agriculture in the United States, Buttigieg says, “What we’re seeing right now is politically motivated gamesmanship and it’s coming down on your back … A tariff is a tax. If you ever believe Republicans don’t raise taxes, that’s what they’re doing right now.”
On Al Franken’s resignation from the Senate, Pete Buttigieg says, “I think it was his decision to make but I think the way that we basically held him to a higher standard than the GOP does their people has been used against us” and that he wouldn’t have “applied that pressure” to force his resignation.
