Knots Landing Tuesday: Bobby Ewing pays a visit from “Dallas” to talk some sense into big brother Gary

This is from an early season. Valene Ewing (Joan Van Ark) has a life-threatening illness that, if she survives, could require her to live life with a colostomy bag. Her husband Gary (Ted Shackelford) is so distraught that his brother Bobby Ewing (Patrick Duffy) travels from South Fork Ranch to California to offer moral support.

Anyway, Gary is not handling Val’s illness at all well and Bobby senses that he is more concerned about Val having a colostomy bag than whether or not she survives. He’s furious with his older brother, and with good reason!

BTW, there are fans, including this one, who thinks this is one of the many instances where it would have been nice to have a visit from Gary and Val’s daughter Lucy (Charlene Tilton) who, after a memorable guest spot during season one, never showed up again at the Knots Landing cul-de-sac – and the show ran 14 seasons!
