Karen Carpenter, born 73 years ago today, remains alive in our hearts.

I grew up, a gay little boy, listening to her records – they just spoke to me.

So when she died on February 4, 1983, I was numb for days.

But instead of feeling sad, I’ve decided today to pay tribute to Karen with some upbeat numbers from her expansive catalog.

Absolutely adored Karen and the Carpenters. They are the reason I sang, and majored in music prior to a career as a professional singer.
