Jonathan Groff gets Tony nod for ‘Hamilton’
A big congratulations today to Looking star Jonathan Groff who has been nominated for a Tony Award for his brief but memorable role in the smash Broadway musical Hamilton.
Jonathan, previously nominated back in 2007 for Spring Awakening, grabbed one of a record 16 nominations for the show.
He will compete in the category of best featured performer in a musical with two of his cast mates: Christopher Jackson, who plays George Washington and Daveed Diggs, who plays Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson.
Also in the category are Brandon Victor Dixon for Shuffle Along and Christopher Fitzgerald for Waitress.
Jonathan left the role of the King on April 9 to begin filming the Netflix series Mindhunter.
The 70th annual Tony Awards will take place on June 12.
