Jonathan Groff’s star turn in Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Merrily We Roll Along’ lands him his first Tony
Jonathan Groff has been so good in all he’s done on stage and screen and tonight, he finally got a major award for it! The Broadway veteran of such shows as Spring Awakening, Hamilton and star of TV’s Looking won the Tony Award for best leading actor in a musical for his star turn in a revival of Merrily We Roll Along which is finally a hit. Groff’s co-star, Daniel Radcliff, also won his first Tony in the featured actor in a musical category. Here are both of their acceptance speeches along with tonight’s performance of Old Friends at the Tonys with the show’s leading lady Lindsay Mendez. The show, which closes next month after a smash run, also won the Tony Award for best revival.
