Joan Rivers is now a Grammy winner!
So happy to be able to write this: Joan Rivers is now a Grammy winner.
The late comedienne, who died last September, took home the recording industry’s highest honor for the audio version of her 12th and final best selling book Diary of a Mad Diva.
If Joan was still with us, she no doubt would have gone on Fashion Police tomorrow and bitched about her category being presented during the non-televised portion of the ceremony.
Joan beat out a stellar field for her first Grammy: Former US President Jimmy Carter for A Call to Action, James Franco for Actors Anonymous, John Waters for Carsick: John Waters Hitchhikes Across America, Gloria Gaynor for We Will Survive: True Stories Of Encouragement, Inspiration, And The Power Of Song and Sen. Elizabeth Warren for the audio recording of her memoir A Fighting Chance.
The book was released last summer followed by an extensive publicity tour that turned out to be Joan’s last.
She never regained consciousness after going to a Manhattan clinic for a botched routine procedure on her throat. Her daughter, Melissa Rivers, is suing the clinic.
