Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Thomas Roberts, Wilson Cruz and other celebs mark Spirit Day in purple
It’s pretty hard not to be aware that today is Spirit Day – a day to “go purple” as a statement against LGBT bullying.
Leading the way are various celebrities who have incorporated purple into their wardrobe today including Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson (here with fiance Justin Mikita) who sported a purple bow tie and MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts who posed with new husband Patrick Abner in a purple shirt on the beach in Rio where the couple is honeymooning.
Sporting a more subtle purple is actor Wilson Cruz who now works for the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) which is the organization promoting Spirit Day.
Cast members on NBC’s Days of Our Lives, including Freddie Smith who plays the gay character of Sonny, showed their support on the set.
And finally, US Secretary of Education Arne Duncan is looking mighty dapper in his stripped purple tie.

I love the fact that the actress who plays the daughter of Melissa Reeves’ character (Kate Mansi) is wearing purple. Especially considering her on screen mother’s support of Chik-Fil-A. Go Abigail (and of course, Sonny!).
