Beloved TV news veteran Jane Pauley has been named the new host of ‘CBS Sunday Morning’

This is perfect.

The classy and charming Jane Pauley has been named to succeed Charles Osgood as host of CBS Sunday Morning.

She joined the show in 2014 as a correspondent and substitute host and takes over on October 9 for Osgood who has hosted the show for 22 years.

The only other host before that was the original one: Charles Kuralt.

Miss Pauley burst onto the national TV scene at the age of 25 when she was chosen to succeed Barbara Walters as co-host of NBC’s The Today Show.

She had a 13-year run alongside Tom Brokaw then Bryant Gumbel before beginning a 12-year stint as co-host of Dateline NBC. She also spent a year as host of NBC’s Real Life Wth Jane Pauley in 1990-91 and of the syndicated The Jane Pauley Show 2004-05.

‘Jane Pauley is the ideal host for the most wide-ranging news program on American culture, our beloved CBS Sunday Morning broadcast,” CBS News President David Rhodes said in a statement. “Charles Osgood is a television news legend—and so is Jane Pauley.”

Miss Pauley released a statement of her own: “Charles Osgood set the standard for CBS Sunday Morning, and it’s a great honor to be given the chance to further our show’s legacy of excellence. I look forward to bringing loyal viewers the kind of engaging, original reporting that has made the broadcast so irresistible for so long.”

One Remark

  1. Jane Pauley is an excellent choice but Charles Osgood will always have my heart.
