Jane Fonda isn’t having it when Megan Kelly asks her about plastic surgery on “The Today Show”

Megan Kelly certainly is getting a lot of buzz as the new host of the third hour of NBC’s The Today Show – but for all the wrong reasons.

On Monday there was an interview with the cast of Will & Grace that had some cringe-worthy moments and had co-star Debra Messing wishing she hadn’t even appeared.

Then today she gets legendary movie stars Jane Fonda and Robert Redford on the show and commits another gaffe that caused another Twitter storm. The stars of Barefoot in the Park and The Electric Horseman are reunited for the film Our Souls At Night and for some reason Kelly decided to ask Fonda about plastic surgery.

“You’ve been an example to everyone on how to age beautifully and with strength,” Kelly remarked. “And, unapologetically, you admit you’ve had work done, which I think is to your credit. You look amazing. Why did you say, I read that you’re not proud to admit that you’ve had work done. Why not?”

Fonda shot Kelly a look that has gone viral and replied: “We really want to talk about that now?”

Kelly pressed on: “Well, one of the things people think when they look at you is how amazing you look.”

“Well, thanks,” Fonda said tersely. “Good attitude, good posture, take care of myself … but, let me tell you why I love this movie that we did, Our Souls at Night, rather than plastic surgery.”

8 Remarks

  1. People like Kelly are just out for cheap headlines.

  2. I think that firing back at Jane Fonda is arrogant of you Ms. Kelly. A little respect and restraint is called for here. It would have been a good thing to make sure before the show what topics Ms. Fonda wished to discuss. Dragging up old (very old) issues dated back to Vietnam is tacky. This was supposed to be a different interview. Your comments about how Ms. Fonda was there to promote information on aging is what she wanted to talk about – not her own face lift. How tacky on your part. You missed the point completely. Just remember before you know it you will be 80 Megan Kelly and you will remember and know why Jane Fonda was not happy with your flip attitude – and then when you attacked Ms. Fonda in retaliation you were flat out SMUG – shame on you Megan.

  3. Kelly is not a nice person! The Today Show needs to find a better person. There are plenty out there to choose from. I will not watch any shows with Megan Kelly. Talk about Bullying!

  4. Shame on you, Megan Kelly for your attack to Jane Fonda. She has more class in her little finger than you have in your entire body. It seems that you still suffer from Fox stupidity, although you do not work for them anymore. Wake up and be a human being that shows respect to others.

  5. Way to. Go Megan. Dating things we all felt fir years. T

Im so tired of interviewers/journalists adding their personal opinions when asking a guest questions. Geez! Give Jane a break! And do your homework! You were way off base! Ms. Jelly, get off your high horse! Oops! Sorry, guess you fell off!

  7. Megan I applaud you on your interview with Hanoi Jane I am a a Vietnam vet remember her and John Kerry she spit on American P.O.W I wouldn’t want my dogs around her she took notes from from pows and give then toe the guards and they were punished for this’thank you for time zane clark proud Vietnam vet

  8. I love Megan Kelley but I vehemently disagree with her tirade about Jane Fonda’s actions FIFTY years ago. Jane has publicly said she was wrong yet she was chastised for something that had absolutely nothing to do with her choice to not discuss her face!

It was disrespectful and is not what women should do to each other.

    Bad form, Ms. Kelly.
