Jane Fonda brings star power to TCM Festival
Jane Fonda, winner of two Academy Awards and star of such films as Coming Home, Klute, On Golden Pond, Nine to Five, They Shoot Horses Don’t They, Barefoot in the Park and Barbarella, was the star attraction on day three of the TCM Classic Film Festival on Saturday in Hollywood.
Fonda put her feet and hands in wet cement in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in the morning in front of a crowd that included Lily Tomlin, Maria Shriver, and Jim Carrey as well as her actor brother Peter Fonda, and actor son Troy Garity.
Later, Fonda headed down the street to the Egyptian Theatre where she did a Q&A with festival host Robert Osborne prior to a screening on On Golden Pond, the only movie she ever made with her father, Henry Fonda.
But what a movie!
It won Henry Fonda his only best actor Oscar, won Katherine Hepburn her fourth for best actress and earned Jane her sixth nomination and first in the supportive actress category.
After 14 years away from acting, Fonda returned to the big screen in the comedy smash Monster-in-Law. She then went on to earn a Tony Award nomination for the play 33 Variations and has a recurring role on HBO’s The Newsroom.
