James Franco was not at all impressed with Michael Fassbender’s “Shame” gay sex scene

You gotta love James Franco’s candor.

The actor-director-author-screenwriter-artist has written an Op-Ed about the film Twelve Years a Slave directed by Steve McQueen and with an Oscar-worthy supporting turn by Michael Fassbender as an alcoholic slave owner.

In the piece, Franco brings up a previous McQueen-Fassbender collaboration in Shame in which the actor plays a sex addict.

It seems he’s not such a fan of that one.

‘He wasn’t such an addict in my opinion,’ Franco writes in Vice.com. ‘I mean, what did he do? Watch porn and screw a handful of people a week? I could point to quite a few folks who do that.’

Franco takes particular issue with a scene where Fassbender’s heterosexual character turns to men.

‘That scene where he’s at his lowest point and wants to fuck and goes into a gay club, and it’s depicted like the seventh level of hell,’ he writes. ‘I mean, it goes back to the horrible representations of gays in the 70s, where the gay club is meant to signify everything dark and depraved. Then the guy gets a minor blowjob, from, Oh no,a man! The horror!’

2 Remarks

  1. I do love James Franco! He is one of a kind, and I always appreciate his candor and humor. I wish men were like him. I also like Michael Fassbender. Both men are terrific actors. James is just so deliciously awesome though.

  2. That should have read, “I wish MORE men were like him (James).”
