Indiegogo fundraising effort launched for promising gay romantic comedy “Please Don’t Eat the Pansies”

Just finished FB messaging with filmmaker Ronnie Kerr who I got to know a few years back when I visited the set of a movie he wrote called Saltwater.

Well, Ronnie is on to a new project as co-writer and producer that I’m really excited about.

It’s a gay-themed romantic comedy called Please Don’t Eat The Pansies which follows the lives of four 40 something gay couples who intersect at Pandora Boxx’s Pansy Party.

The film, to be directed by co-writer Craig Campobasso, is described as a farcical romp with a happy ending but also explores the issues gay men face over the age of 40 – things like caring for aging parents, dating, marriage, sex and love.

The cast that has been assembled is pretty terrific starting with Ronnie who will play opposite his Saltwater leading man Ian Roberts as one of the couples.

And get this: another one of the couples will be played by the adorable Caroline in the City duo of Eric Lutes and Andy Lauer who I had huge crushes on in the 90s. I always thought their characters on that show would be such a great couple.

Also in the cast is Greg In Hollywood fave Tom Goss whose music I have featured on the site in the past and who has the prettiest blue eyes in all of LA.

In addition to the hot guys, there is some serious diva representation: Ronnie just told me that Emmy winner Jackee Harry of 227 and Sister, Sister fame has joined the cast as has Mary Wilson, one of the three original members of the all-time greatest girl group The Supremes.

Motown baby!

The goal is to raise $35,000 to make the movie and there are 17 days left to do it. So far, nearly $9,000 has been raised.

Here is a LINK to the Indiegogo page where you can find out about all the cool perks you can get with a contribution.

Good luck to Ronnie, Craig and everyone else involved in a project I really look forward to seeing on the big screen.
